Management and Communication
Management and communication throughout the course of any project is essential to the project’s successful completion. At Upperview, we employ several essential management and communication tools to ensure all teams members are kept on the same page.
From the outset of a project, key items and tasks are clearly identified and categorized. A detailed project schedule is created which outlines everything from issuance of permits through project turnover. This schedule is updated on a weekly basis to make sure that all involved can maintain the proper momentum. In addition to this, weekly jobsite meetings are held with all principal players of the project required to attend.
Each weekly site meeting is conducted with the use of a published agenda. This agenda includes current and past topics as well as outstanding issues and action items. Tasks are assigned and documented in the continuously updated agenda so that all parties are aware of every team member’s responsibilities.
On the job site, the Site Superintendent maintains a computer, telephone and fax machine to facilitate all forms of communication. A digital camera is used to provide weekly visual updates as well as assist with providing more detailed field conditions relative to RFI’s. The Superintendent also generates daily field reports which are maintained as part of the project file. Standard industry forms are used to process payments, change orders, waivers, releases and Requests for Information.
Team Leadership
Scott J. Small, President of Upperview Construction, has more than 25 years experience with commercial, residential, restaurant, and retail construction as well as project management. His experience ranges from foundations and structural installations, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and finish trade work, with all done in complete compliance with all design documents. In addition, Scott has amassed an impressive list of long-term client relationships and on-budget projects. His clients agree that he is a knowledgeable general contractor with a broad-based understanding of architecture, interior design, and engineering. Adrienne Jones, Director of Operations, has been on Upperview’s team for more than 10 years. She has experience in many aspects of the construction business including client relations, management and accounting. She keeps excellent communication with clients in order to maintain relationships. Adrienne also assembles the bids by communicating with the core subs and by qualifying new subs based on the criteria of the project. In addition, Adrienne assists in Project Management for all jobs.
Upperview also has several Project Managers and Superintendents in the field. Our workers overlook our projects and make sure each job is running correctly, according to the plans. They ensure that the job site is a clean and a safe environment. They also overlook all subcontractors on the job, communicate with the office if any issues or changes come up and make sure the client is satisfied with the results. We have working Superintendents that do what it takes to get the project done to satisfaction and on time.
